Exciting Announcement - DWP Kickstart Scheme

We are excited to announce that the DWP have approved our Kickstart Gateway application and we are very much looking forward to welcoming young people into work placements and supporting them with their career path and goals.
Our role within the Kickstart scheme will be to coordinate and monitor the scheme’s execution. We will:
• Administer Kickstart member reimbursement
• Guide and support the designated in-house champions
• Source and present workplace orientation programmes; including the onboarding of beneficiaries
• Facilitate the placement of Scheme beneficiaries where participant members are unable to accommodate them as permanent employees
About the Kickstart Scheme
The DWP Kickstart scheme is to help improve young people’s long-term employment prospects through workplace experience and developing a positive mindset towards the World of Work. The scheme is a fully funded opportunity for 16 to 24-year-olds who are currently on Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term employment. It is a six-month paid job with a local employer that is funded by the government.
The scheme was announced last summer by the Chancellor and will offer hundreds of thousands of job opportunities before it is set to close on December 31st 2021. The duration of the DWP’s financial support for each placement is six months and The Chamber of Commerce will act as the intermediary (Gateway).
Benefits of the Kickstart Scheme
There are many benefits to the Kickstart scheme, in addition to the financial support provided by the DWP for six months, each candidate will have a mentor as a contact to offer advice and help them to progress. Candidates will benefit from adding new skills on their CV and gain experience through a valuable work placement opportunity that will ‘kickstart’ their career along their chosen path.
