A town review – Maidenhead’s metamorphosis
AREA 7
Back to Maidenhead's metamorphosisCentres on the Rail Station and although not dependant on the arrival of Crossrail bears that possibility in mind
A
public transport interchange is essential and Maidenhead should build
on the advantage of a centrally located station. We propose a Bus Station
at Station Approach and a new high level exit North to Grenfell Road.
This would permit buses to turn right or left when exiting the Station
via the Grenfell Road lights and could include Taxis.
We also consider that pedestrian links could be enhanced with a high level link across from the station over King Street next to the bridge with stairs and lift down to the street. This could possibly continue along the embankment to the Superstore affording excellent public transport access.
If Crossrail takes off then perhaps a Travellator could be considered. Such a high level link takes advantage of the high level of the present station relative to the surrounding streets.
